About
For as long as I can remember I have been fixated on visual communication and the emotional responses that arise in people as they view different works of art. When faced with a piece that truly inspires, changes your mood, challenges your thoughts, or just looks good with the rest of the room, you form a very conscious response to your surroundings.
Works that have inspired me are often bright and bold with color or strong with contrast. Ones that capture a sense of the movement or emotions showing us the life in that very time-frame. Nature portrayed not only as what we see, but in a small sense of what we feel.
The intended use of vibration, and the strokes suggesting movement are the foundation for my art. These paintings generally start as locations in the Northwest and evolve into compositions that bring the viewer into the sense of reaction and engagement. It may take a long period of viewing from different distances and angles to become engaged with the process. Color found in the actual likeness of nature is generally the easiest to re-produce. While some work directly uses the color palette of the scene, other palettes have been created to enhance or emphasize a certain mood and objective view.
I hope you enjoy my paintings, as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
